Ascension of the Tournette (2351m) from the chalet of l’Aulp

Access

To reach the starting point of the climb, head towards the Aulp chalet, located above the col de la Forclaz, in the beautiful Bornes massif. From Annecy, take the D42 road, then follow the signs indicating the pass. Once you arrive, park in the conveniently located parking lot. Be careful with limited spaces, especially in summer!

Difficulty Details

This hike is not for couch potatoes! With an elevation gain of nearly 1200 meters uphill, expect a fairly strenuous route. Get ready to sweat, as the slopes will keep you on your toes, but the stunning landscapes will bring a smile to your face once you reach the summit.

Thinking of bringing your faithful four-legged companion? Think twice! Dogs are generally allowed, but keep them on a leash to avoid unfriendly encounters with the local wildlife. Remember to bring water to keep them hydrated as well.

The weather at high altitudes can be fickle. Before you leave, check the forecasts! Avoid stormy days, as mountain storms are like a barbecue without sausages: disappointing! Pack a small rain gear in your bag, and you’ll be ready for anything.

Start your adventure from the parking lot of the chalet. Take the steep path leading to the Aulp pass. Pass the restaurant-chalet, ideal for a refreshing coffee before the ascent. Then continue to the ridge and let yourself be carried away by the beauty of the place. The ascent will then take place on rockier paths, but with a bit of willpower and a lot of sweat, nothing is impossible!
