Access to the Mountain of Mare

To reach the Mountain of Mare, it’s quite simple! Just head to Saint-Vincent-sur-Jabron, a charming little village that sets the tone for a getaway in nature. The slope quickly becomes steeper, especially near the summit. This shouldn’t discourage you, especially when you get closer to the summit: the panoramic view at 360° is worth every bit of effort!

Before you embark on the adventure, know that it will take you about 3h15 to reach the summit if you start from the Pied du Mulet. Allow 2 hours to the first panorama at 1603 meters, then 45 minutes more to the second summit at 1622 meters. Don’t underestimate your equipment, as good footwear and a map (or GPS app) can save you from taking a detour of a few kilometers.

The route is mainly followed thanks to yellow marked signs, avoid the detour paths (unless you’re seeking adrenaline and a taste for adventure). After leaving the parking area, turn left at an altitude of about 1314 m and continue following the signs. Traverse varied landscapes, from wooded sections to rocky outcrops, each step bringing you a little closer to the peaks. Don’t forget to take a few breaks to admire the surrounding nature – it’s a well-deserved reward before the final effort.
